Frank Grijalva
Trauma-Informed Care
Frank’s personal experience with trauma as a child led him to dedicate his life to helping others. Frank has worked abroad in Gaza and the West Bank, Haiti, and other countries for agencies like the International Center for the Protection of Victims of Torture. He currently consults for mass shootings, trauma-informed care, and provides direct consultation to clinicians working with complexly traumatized children and families.
Mirna Herrera
Trauma-Informed Supervision for Peers
Mirna’s work focuses on helping individuals on their recovery journey through peer support, while sharing her own recovery story as a source of hope and motivation. She is a consultant for the mid-America ATTC (Addiction Technology Transfer Center), providing training and support for individuals and agencies focusing on peer support and trauma informed care. She is a certified peer trainer for the Missouri credentialing board, and a trauma informed care facilitator.
Kellee McCrory
Facilitating Groups
Kellee is the program manager for the Iowa Peer Workforce Collaborative which provides training and continuing education to peers in Iowa and provides technical assistance and support to Iowa agencies and organizations to enhance the employment, hiring, and retention of Peer Support Specialists, Family Peer Support Specialists, and Peer Recovery Coaches. Kellee is passionate about teaching, innovative, forward-thinking and enthusiastic.
Renee Schulte
Preventing Burn-out
Renee Schulte has over two decades of leadership experience in the behavioral health care field. She has worked as an adjunct professor of psychology at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and as a family therapist at Four Oaks, a child welfare agency. Her work in the public and private sectors has given her a unique understanding of the complexities of delivering quality care.
Angie Chaplin
SMART Recovery
Angie Chaplin is known for her inspiring journey of courage and authenticity. Overcoming severe alcohol use disorder to achieve recognition as an alcohol-free leader, Angie’s story exemplifies her values of integrity, curiosity, clarity, connection, and love. She’ll talk about SMART. SMART stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training. SMART was created for people seeking a self-empowering way to overcome addictive problems.
Sam Erwin
Creativity and Values
Sam sees an important connection between self-care, spirituality, and creativity. Whether it is one-on-one, facilitating, or presenting, her goal is the same: to recognize the spirit that leads us to contemplation and mindfulness. With a focus on the components of mindfulness, therapeutic art, and spiritual companionship, Sam invites you to reflect deeply on the experiences of your daily life.

Need-based Scholarships for Cost of Attendance
While the Peer Support Summit will be free for Peer Support, Recovery Coaches, and Family Peers to attend (lunch will also be provided free), there are other costs involved in coming to the conference. Specifically, the cost of the hotel and gas for travel. Iowa Peer Network may be able to help offset these costs on a need basis as funds are available.
We want to remove barriers to participation in the conference. Iowa Peer Network is able to provide need-based scholarships to help offset the cost of attending the conference. Please complete the scholarship application by March 24th, 2023.
