Monthly Workshop – Ethics

In our August workshop, we’ll discuss specific scenarios and the ethics involved.

• What if someone you serve wants to sell you their food stamps?
• What if someone you serve wants you to take guardianship of their kids?
• What if they ask you to be their sponsor in AA or NA?
• What if someone you serve asks for your personal cell phone number?
• What if they send you a Facebook friend request?
• Ethics aren’t just about our choices as individuals, either. What if the organization we work for has policies that exclude certain groups?

Ethics is not just about rules, but about thinking through the consequences and alternatives so that we can create the safest and most equitable environment we can. We’ll discuss not just the answers to these questions, but why, and how we can apply the same logic to future situations.
